Watching my own children grow has been the greatest honor of my life. As a mother, I have delighted in photographing the beautiful ordinary. My son napping on the front porch. My daughter studying a lady bug crawling across her painted fingers. The way he clings to his ragged bunny. The way the wind catches her wild hair. There is so much beauty in the in between. My goal as a photographer is to capture the details your hearts know so well so your eyes may be able to see them even after these little moments have passed you by.
There is nothing like childhood. It’s pure and free. Wild and unashamed. It’s dirt on your face, laugh 'til it hurts, feel every feeling from the ends of your toes to the tip of your nose.

Remember all of those sessions when you spent more time gritting your teeth than actually smiling? Been there! Pressure's off mom and dad! Let's do it differently this time.
No forcing children to sit and smile those fake cheesy smiles. Let them play. Let them run. Let them be silly. I understand the need for a family portrait where everyone is sitting peacefully. It'll happen! Let them wear themselves out first. It's the image of them dancing in the sunlight, tackling their brothers and squeezing your neck that you're going to cherish forever.
